Main duties of the job

Management Duties

Support the Outsourced Services Manager in the effective operation and service developments of outsourced pharmacy services for Leeds Teaching Hospitals (LTH).

Deputise for the Outsourced Services Manager in their absence.

Execute operational planning and organisation for complex services.

Support service planning involving multiple care interfaces and stakeholder engagement.

Act as the key liaison between finance, clinical service units, patients and external service providers.

Service Coordination and Development Duties

Supports the LTH outsourced pharmacy services strategy.

Communicate and assess the impact of service changes for other teams and work collaboratively to improve service delivery to ensure smooth execution.

Coordinate with homecare providers, patients, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care and service excellence.

Support the integration of new services, digital tools and automation to enhance service efficiency.

Identify and provide support for the implementation of new services/contracts for homecare and outsourcing in line with national standards and strategies.

Promote a culture of continuous improvement and collaborative working.

Champion and advocate the outsourced pharmacy service.

Provide technical advice and support to clinical teams regarding homecare medicines.

Analyse/ audit/ benchmark service data to identify trends, risks and opportunities.

Job responsibilities

To manage and develop the daily delivery of a specialist technical service within a designated section. This will incorporate the pharmacy strategy for medicines management. The post holder will also perform a range of medicine supply functions; these will be predominantly concerned with accuracy checking and management of stock control.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Maintain high professional standards at all times and ensure compliance with statutory regulations concerning pharmaceuticals and the provision of the Health and Safety at work act are complied with.

Supports the development and provision of safe and effective outsourced services in line with agreed contractual terms and regulatory standards

Maintain links with internal and external stakeholders, other Specialist Pharmacy Technicians, managers and other pharmacy staff to ensure a safe and efficient service.

Ensures accurate documentation and records are maintained within the service area including prompt payment of invoices and contract price information

Support the management of complaints and incidents in line with national and local standards

Responsible for recruitment and selection of technical staff to assigned area.

Responsible for training and supporting all grades off staff designated to area

Line management and appraisal for staff ensuring opportunities for personal development

Involvement in writing procedures relating to the service in conjunction with other appropriate staff and managers. Delivery and implementation of agreed procedures and monitor compliance with all SOPs

Ensure departmental work is completed within agreed timescales

Manage resources within department

Provide monthly statistics on workload

Develop and lead a team of staff

Identify training needs of staff and devise individual training plans

Act as Key Trainer for your area ensuring all staff are trained in safe practices

Liaise with GPs, community pharmacists, external organisations and colleagues in order to improve the medicines management process and outsourced services

Develop efficient communication channels with the rest of pharmacy to ensure a good understanding of the service and the roles and responsibilities of staff
