An opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and motivated pharmacist to join the Chapel Allerton Pharmacist Team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. Working across a number of specialities, especially rheumatology and dermatology, this role offers the candidate the chance to build significant clinical knowledge in the management of multiple specialised conditions.

Within our team the Specialist Clinical Pharmacists are provided with in depth training to validate and manage various specialised therapies. This is alongside developing other key skills which will be crucial to further development in hospital pharmacy such as medicines finance, drugs & therapeutics and clinical trials. Prior experience in these fields is not required and the support you receive from your mentor will be adapted based on your previous experience and current skills.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside leading rheumatology/dermatology specialists gaining skills and knowledge valuable for future progression.

Main duties of the job

- Provide a clinical pharmacy service to rheumatology and dermatology services including day case, homecare medicines and inpatient wards

- Undertake medicines reconciliation, targeted medicines review and facilitation of discharge for our patients

- Have oversight of medicines management for both in and outpatient areas

- Validation of targeted therapies across a range of sub specialities following appropriate training

- Attendance at MDTs

- Support the implementation of new rheumatology and dermatology treatments

- Support Advanced Clinical Pharmacists in Drug & Therapeutics processes for individual and cohort applications for the unlicensed use of medicines as well as free of charge/compassionate use schemes

- Take on projects and 'link roles' with other parts of the pharmacy team such as medicines safety or antimicrobial stewardship

- Undertake required audits and reviews to ensure services are adhering to local and national standards

- Supervise and support Foundation Pharmacists and Trainee Pharmacists currently on rotation within the Chapel Allerton Pharmacist Team

- Support the provision of core pharmacy services (known as Core Professional Commitments) such as the Chapel Allerton Dispensary
