With a medicines expenditure of around £305 million per annum, the Medicines Management and Pharmacy Services (MMPS) CSU is critical to delivering world class clinical care across the full spectrum of patients for whom we care. We have 8 consultant pharmacists and many nationally renowned practitioners. Our services include licensed & unlicensed preparation of medicines, we are one of four national pathfinders developing a licensed aseptic manufacturing hub. We hold Home Office, Wholesaler Dealers & Manufacturing Licenses to support sales to other organisations. We play a pivotal leadership role across our system through close relationships with NHSE, West Yorkshire and Leeds Place ICBs and with our provider collaborative WYAAT (West Yorkshire Association of Acute Trusts). We have shared posts with primary care & with higher education institutions.
Our Medicines Optimisation strategy focuses on providing patient centred safe care with medicines. The patient voice and feedback is heard directing innovation in services and we seek to continuously improve the patient experience. Medicines Optimisation is delivered by an empowered and engaged workforce comprising registered pharmacy professionals, pharmacy support workers, business & admin staff, scientists and a lead doctor and established nursing team.
Main duties of the job
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, and having professional accountability to the Chief Medical Officer, you will be an exceptional and inspirational individual who is strategically minded and has senior level experience leading innovative services and transformational improvement work. You will discharge the role of the Chief Pharmacist & Clinical Director working within a triumvirate (Clinical Director, General Manager and Head of Nursing) and with a well-established high performing senior leadership team of lead pharmacist clinicians. Already working as a Chief Pharmacist at a District General Hospital, or Deputy Chief Pharmacist at a Teaching Hospital, you will be credible at all levels within and outside the Trust. You will be a naturally engaging leader of the MMPS workforce; you will be capable of working closely with internal stakeholders such as Executive Directors, senior managers and clinicians; and you will have a proven track record of building effective relationships and partnerships within the healthcare system at local, regional and national level.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate their ability to commit to and role model our Leeds Way Values and apply our continuous improvement methodology, The Leeds Improvement Method.
