A specialist clinical pharmacist role which will help deliver great patient experience and staff support. This dynamic pharmacy teams are a core element, embedded in the following clinical areas: cardiology and cardiac surgery, neurosciences comprising neurology and neurosurgery, head and neck services, trauma and related surgery, orthogeriatrics, vascular surgery and critical care. The post comprises a continuous, one year clinical rotational programme, designed to steer the individual through the Advanced Level Framework.
The post holder will provide medicines optimisation services to medical and surgical patients whilst integrating in to the multidisciplinary team day-to-day.
Main duties of the job
You will have clinical pharmacy experience and a diploma; If you are not already a prescriber, we would support you to gain this qualification.
You will receive support to develop from our advanced clinical pharmacists, and appropriate training. You will offer ideas and collaborate to improve patient care and experience, and will be a key part of the implementation of service developments within the aforementioned clinical areas.
Your role will include ward work, facilitating processing of homecare prescriptions, participation in core professional commitments (comprising LTHT comprehensive aseptics services, Leeds Medicines Advisory Service, anticoagulation services), governance tasks, support to clinical trials where applicable, promoting patient safety and flow, and supervising rotational junior pharmacists and supporting pharmacy technicians in their emerging clinical roles. You may have opportunities to teach and train other clinical staff groups.
