Main duties of the job

Our Foundation Pharmacist programme offers rotations through a variety of clinical areas such as acute medicine, elderly, surgery, paediatrics, neurology, oncology and cardiology. Throughout the programme you will be supported to develop and embed your clinical knowledge and skills to ensure delivery of excellent patient centred care from day one.

Complementing this, you will develop your skills in Medicines Information, Aseptics and Medicines supply services by delivering responsive professional pharmacist cover in these areas.

As a first year Foundation pharmacist you will participate in evening and weekend rotas and from year 2 progress to work variable shifts (8.45-5.15pm/5pm-1am or 12am-8am) to provide our 24-hour pharmacy service. This rota is supported by experienced pharmacists through an on call from home rota which you would contribute to in your third year.

This is a 3-year fixed-term contract, during which the successful candidate will undertake and complete a post graduate Pharmacy Practice diploma. This includes the opportunity to train as an Independent Prescriber.
