We are looking for two enthusiastic and highly
motivated Clinical Pharmacists with an interest in clinical trials to join
the Pharmacy Clinical Trials Team and work as part of a Specialist Clinical
Pharmacy Team. A background in clinical trials is not essential as full
training will be provided.
This is a split role with 60% of time working
with the Pharmacy Clinical Trials Team and 40% as a clinical pharmacist
covering specialist areas within either the St James (SJUH) Oncology Team or
the Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) Adult Clinical Team to areas such as
neurosciences, cardiology and trauma.
You will work collaboratively with the rest of
the Pharmacy Clinical Trials Team, research colleagues and external trial
sponsors to set up studies and contribute to the on-going management of
current trials.
One post will be primarily based at SJUH and the
other at LGI. We have over 40 research
active areas including oncology, haematology, infectious diseases, renal,
liver, respiratory, gastroenterology, endocrinology, rheumatology,
dermatology, cardiology, neurosciences, paediatric medicine and paediatric
oncology. It is an exciting time to work in research as work is underway on
developing two new state of the art hospitals with plans to create a world
class hub for innovation.
Main duties of the job
To
work with the Pharmacy Clinical Trials Team to ensure the validation and
dispensing of clinical trial prescriptions is in line with Good Clinical
Practice (GCP) requirements.
To
support the Pharmacy Clinical Trials Team in the review and set up of new
clinical trials. This will include checking trial specific documentation and,
where applicable, working with the aseptic team to facilitate set up of trial
specific worksheets and other relevant documents.
To
support the Pharmacy Clinical Trials Team in the ongoing management of clinical
trials including processing and implementing amendments.
To
support the development of Foundation and Trainee Pharmacists within clinical
trials and provide them with the knowledge and skills required to appropriately
handle clinical trial queries out of hours and in their day to day work.
To contribute to the clinical service provided
by the LGI Adult Clinical Pharmacy Team to include ward cover on a rotational
basis with the potential opportunity for involvement in other aspects of the
clinical service in this area. Integration into the multidisciplinary team will
provide further opportunities for learning and development. Your clinical
development will be supported by the team of Advanced Clinical Pharmacists in
this area.
