Job summary
We
are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Clinical Pharmacist with
an interest in clinical trials to join the Pharmacy Clinical Trials Team and
LGI Adult Clinical Pharmacy Team. A background in clinical trials is not
essential as full training will be provided
This
is a split role with 60% of time working with the Pharmacy Clinical Trials
Team and 40% as a clinical pharmacist covering specialist areas within the
LGI Adult Clinical Pharmacy Team
You
will work collaboratively with the rest of the Pharmacy Clinical Trials Team,research colleagues and external trial sponsors to set up studies and
contribute to the on-going management of current trials
You
will also work with the LGI Adult Clinical Pharmacy Team providing clinical
pharmacy services to adult specialities at LGI There are a range of medical, surgical and highly specialist areas including neurosciences, cardiology,and
major trauma
This
post will be primarily based at Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) where research
active areas include cardiology, neurosciences, paediatric medicine and
paediatric oncology. It is an exciting
time to work in research as work is underway on developing two new state of
the art hospitals with plans to create a world class hub for innovation. This
will support the growing number of early phase studies and ATIMPs (Advanced
Therapy Investigational Medicinal Products) especially within paediatrics

Main duties of the job
The
main duties for staff working in this role are:
To work with the Pharmacy Clinical
Trials Team to ensure the validation and dispensing of clinical trial prescriptions
is in line with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) requirements.
To support the Pharmacy Clinical
Trials Team in the review and set up of new clinical trials. This will
include checking trial specific documentation and, where applicable, working
with the aseptics team to facilitate set up of trial specific worksheets and
other relevant documents.
To support the Pharmacy Clinical
Trials Team in the ongoing management of clinical trials including processing
and implementing amendments.
To support the development of
Foundation and Trainee Pharmacists within clinical trials and provide them
with the knowledge and skills required to appropriately handle clinical trial
queries out of hours and in their day-to day work.
To contribute to the clinical
service provided by the LGI Adult Clinical Pharmacy Team to include ward
cover on a rotational basis with the potential opportunity for involvement in
other aspects of the clinical service in this area. Integration into the
multidisciplinary team will provide further opportunities for learning and
development. Your clinical development will be supported by the team of
Advanced Clinical Pharmacists in this area.
