Job summary
A
fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced, highly motivated and
forward thinking pharmacist or pharmacy technician to join our Pharmacy
Medicines Procurement and Supply team.
This
senior role will suit a candidate with enthusiasm and vision across a number
of areas of pharmacy and healthcare delivery, including service management,
medicines legislation and regulatory affairs, wholesaling, logistics and
commercial relationships and quality improvement.
This
role will suit a pharmacist or pharmacy technician with experience of
managing staff and services, and an excellent understanding of hospital
pharmacy and associated medicines legislation.
The
successful candidate will have opportunity to drive forward our medicines
supply service through engaging with end users and suppliers, and be at the
forefront of sustaining a high-level service for our patients, partners and
customers. This leadership role offers the perfect platform to inspire others
and lead on service improvement through systematic change. There will be the
support to shape and develop the role in line with our Trusts strategic
priorities.
Main duties of the job
The
successful candidate will report to the Lead Clinician for Medicines
Procurement & Supply, leading services supplying medicines within the
trust and to external customers, and be the Responsible Person as named on
the Wholesale Distribution Authorisation(H).
Specific
duties will include leading on the supply of medicines within the trust and
to external customers via our WDA(H), and the associated need to maintain
relationships and ensure standards are maintained through robust quality
management systems. The postholder will also lead the service into new
premises in 2025, and support the design of new medicines supply pathways and
systems as part of Building the Leeds Way - our planned new adults, and women
and childrens hospital. The successful candidate will be a key part of the
regional WYAAT Aseptics Hub programme, including the distribution of
aseptically prepared medicines.
In
addition the successful candidate will lead and support transformation
projects across the portfolio, including automation and the implementation of
new technology.

post holder is employed by Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and will work
across and beyond all our hospital sites; St James University Hospital, Leeds
General Infirmary, Chapel Allerton, Wharfedale and Seacroft Hospitals and
Moor House.
The
MMPS Clinical Services Unit (CSU) provides and leads comprehensive
pharmaceutical and medicines management services to patients and staff of
LTHT in accordance with all relevant standards and legislation.
The
post holder is responsible for leadership within the MMPS Medicines Stores
and Supply services supporting the MMPS Lead Clinician for Medicines
Procurement and Supply and working in partnership with other MMPS Senior
Leaders and wider clinical and operational leads to deliver high quality
services.
The
post holder will support the delivery of high quality medicines stores and
supply services across LTHT and beyond, influencing the use of medicines
across all LTHT CSUs and across the Leeds Place via care pathways and
collaboration with colleagues in primary care.
The
post holder will be a role model in the field of medicines stores and supply
and provide a consistently high quality pharmaceutical service in line with
National initiatives and MMPS objectives.
The post holder will provide expert advice on pharmaceutical matters
in their own specialist area and undertake risk management for this area.
Be
responsible to the MMPS Lead Clinician for the delivery of medicines stores
and supply across LTHT programmes of work and CSU delivery plans.
To
include delivery of programmes of work informed by the NHS 10 year Strategic
plan, the Trust Strategic Plan, the Hospital Pharmacy Transformation Plan and
ensuring that this work is undertaken through the Leeds Improvement
Methodology.
Being
responsible to the MMPS Lead Clinician to ensure that the workforce under the
post holders leadership is empowered, supported in development and succession
planning and, trained in quality improvement methodology.
To
provide project management leadership and support, and expert medicines
stores and supply opinion and consultancy where appropriate.
To
use professional networks across the United Kingdom to capture the
experiences of other healthcare organisations in their approaches to
innovative models of medicines procurement, supply, optimisation and service
delivery.
