We are looking for an HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist to develop a clinical academic career within a team committed to providing a high standard of training in clinical psychology.
Leeds has a longstanding and highly regarded clinical psychology training programme. We are a close knit, friendly and supportive team, with excellent links with clinical psychology and expert by experience colleagues in West Yorkshire. We also regularly collaborate with academic colleagues in the Institute for Health Sciences.
As a clinical tutor, you will co-ordinate clinical placement arrangements in a specified core area of training, implement agreed procedures for the monitoring and appraisal of clinical experience and development of clinical competencies of trainees including organisation of placement visits and liaising with NHS supervisors. You will liaise as needed with external agencies in relation to training initiatives and also own CPD requirements.
There is also an expectation that you will help develop teaching in an area ofexpertise and take on some limited doctoral research co-supervision of trainee projects.
Leeds has an eclectic approach to different psychological therapies and research methodologies, and an emphasis on personal and professional development, reflective practice, and an appropriately critical appraisal of evidence.
Main duties of the job
- Playing a significant role in the provision of high-quality clinical placements on the programme, including co-ordination of placement activity, training of clinical supervisors across West Yorkshire, and monitoring and assessment of trainee competencies;
- Provision of high-quality clinical tutorial support;
- Contributing to post graduate teaching in your areas of expertise.
- To participate in the assessment of student academic and research performance and to provide timely feedback;

- UK recognised qualification as a Clinical Psychologist (current HCPC registration and eligibility for/possession of charted clinical psychology status);
- A qualification at doctoral level (D.Clin.Psychol; PhD);
Desirable
- Further specialist training and experience through formal post-doctoral training or specialist short courses and supervised practice-based learning;
Experience

- Engaged in clinical psychology supervisor training;
- Experience of providing clinical supervision;
- Experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist, exercising full clinical responsibility for clients psychological care and treatment, and post qualification experience within a specialty that would enable a significant contribution to be made to the quality of the teaching on the programme
- Doctoral level knowledge of clinical psychology including lifespan developmental psychology, models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, and two or more distinct psychological therapies.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including written and ability to present to an audience;
- Experience of developing and delivering teaching to DClinPsych students or other professional groups;
- The ability to build trust to ensure engagement and commitment, and to treat staff fairly, with respect and dignity;
- The ability to provide pastoral support to students;
- The ability to work to tight deadlines under pressure in a complex environment;
- The ability to contribute to management and administrative processes and structures, including managing resources and/or staff.
