Main duties of the job

This is a 10PA locum appointment for a Consultant in Paediatric Diabetes and General Paediatrics.

This post will deliver 5PAs supporting the Diabetes team (Dr Fiona Campbell, Dr Aoife Kelleher & Dr James Yong) and 5PAs supporting the General Paediatrics team. This will include contributing to the on-call rota.

We are looking for a new enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join our existing group of consultants who are all highly motivated and committed to developing excellent services for patients. The expectations of all members of the multi-disciplinary team are high. The team consists of consultants with various specialist interests, including immunology and infectious diseases, respiratory, nephrology, eating disorders and secondary epilepsy. The role will include acute work in the Childrens Assessment and Treatment unit (CAT) and on the Childrens inpatient wards, as well as outpatient work in the form of general paediatric clinics.

The role has a vast mixture of secondary and tertiary paediatrics supporting an extensive array of other tertiary specialists across Leeds Childrens Hospital.

  • Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in Paediatrics Specifically, he/she must demonstrate higher training in Paediatric Diabetes Evidence of continuous care

Eligibility, Fitness to practice, and Language Skills

  • Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practice. Eligibility to work in the UK.

Clinical, Academic, and Personal Skills

Essential

  • Evidence of the ability to carry out medical research.

Desirable

  • Previous experience of supervising research by junior staff.

Qualifications

  • MH BS (or equivalent) MRPCH or equivalent qualification

Desirable

  • Higher degree e.g. MD/PhD relevant to the subspecialty.
