Locum Consultant in Adult Congenital Heart Disease

Job summary

We are looking for a dynamic individual to fill this locum consultant post within the Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) department at Leeds General Infirmary. Initial appointment will be for 6 months.

This 10 PA post will deliver ACHD clinics and contribute to the ACHD on-call rota. It may be possible for the successful candidate to pursue an area of subspecialty interest in ACHD. This post is managed in the Leeds Childrens Hospital with strong links with the adult cardiology department.

The post will be based at the Leeds General Infirmary

The successful applicants should hold accreditation in Cardiology from the Royal College of Physicians (or equivalent) or be within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview, if currently within a training programme within the UK.

Applicants should have established skills in ACHD. Excellent communication and team working skills, a strong commitment to teaching and service development are essential.

Main duties of the job

To deliver care to patients with adult congenital heart disease at the Leeds General Infirmary

Out-patient clinics

Cover of inpatients, acute referrals and out-of-hours care on a 1:6 rota

Contribute to Specialist multi-disciplinary team meetings

To link with Consultant colleagues in other relevant site specialist teams within the congenital cardiology department and across the Trust.

To contribute to research, teaching and new developments within the adult congenital cardiology department. The post holder will be encouraged to facilitate and contribute to the current clinical research programs on going in the department.
