Job summary
This
is a 40 hour per week appointment for a Fellow in Pain and Neuromodulation.
This post will be available from August 2025.
This is for a period of 6 months extendable to further 6 months
maximum.
This
post will be based at multiple locations (Leeds General Infirmary, Wharfedale
and St James Hospital).
Applicants
should have established skills in managing chronic pain patients. Excellent communication and team working
skills, a strong commitment to teaching and service development are
essential.
The
PAIN team consists of 5 Consultants in Pain Medicine, 2 Psychologist, 6
Specialist nurses. 2 research nurses and a pharmacist. There are MDT clinics
with spinal surgical team and Palliative care. We see approximately 1500 new
patients per year.
We
are looking for a Post CCT or equivalent doctor with an advanced pain
training, who is looking to enhance their experience in Neuromodulation. PAIN
does approximately 180 spinal column stimulations and 10-12 intrathecal pumps
a year. We currently do most of the available technologies in
neurostimulation.

Main duties of the job
To
work with Chronic Pain Management colleagues in the provision of a
comprehensive and high standard of service in chronic pain management at the
Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
To
develop and/or consolidate expertise in Pain Medicine and neuromodulation.
The
post will provide comprehensive experience in Neuromodulation
To
maintain and expand the excellence of teaching, audit and research already
established within LTHT.
To
support service plans for the Pain Management in relation to changes in
clinical practice and new technologies.
To
participate in Clinical Governance and appraisal.
About us
The
Fellow will be attached to a large multi-professional Chronic Pain Management
Service and will have no on-call duties. The post is based within the Chronic
Pain Management Department that sees 1500 new outpatients annually. The
successful applicant will join an existing team of 5 Consultants in Pain
Medicine, 2 clinical psychologists, 1 pharmacist, 6 specialist
nurses
and 3 research nurses. PAIN has a research team with good links to the
University. We currently under take research in both drug and device studies.
The research team has a Fulltime Project Manager / Lead research Nurse, Non
clinical Research Manager, less than full time Neuromodulation Research Nurse
and 2 administrators
