Job responsibilities
We
are excited to offer the opportunity to join the cardiology team at the West
Yorkshire Heart Centre, The General Infirmary at Leeds, as a Junior Clinical
Fellow in Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery.
This
is a fantastic opportunity for those desiring a more sustained experience in
cardiology at a large modern tertiary cardiac centre.
It
is intended that these posts could be tailored to meet training needs,
including opportunities for trainees to become involved in research and
procedural skills.
The
posts would be suitable for individuals who have completed foundation posts, or
those who wish to evolve their experience (e.g. following core medical
training) in order to prepare for higher speciality training programmes.
The
service is supported by a number of foundation year doctors, internal medical
and GP trainees as well as Advanced Care Practitioners. This will allow
flexibility to tailor training to requirements, including experience in
outpatient clinics, catheter lab time, operating theatre observation and
cardiac imaging.
It
is intended that the successful applicant would be involved in audit and
quality improvement projects, including the chance to collaborate with
researchers to present at national meetings and publish work.
We
will ensure that these posts receive dedicated clinical supervision with an
experienced named supervisor, portfolio review, study leave and teaching
programmes with evidence to count towards future training.
LEVELS
OF RESPONSIBILITY
This
will depend upon prior experience and can be discussed. It is expected that the
levels of responsibility will be that of LST (above FY and below HST) and the
successful candidate will receive supervision from a named consultant with
responsibility to develop the individuals training e-portfolio or equivalent.
As
the post is for duration of one year, it is expected that the successful
applicant would be able to establish themselves in the team and evolve the

created by changes to the internal medicine training programme (IMT).
