Job
Title: Senior Clinical Fellow in Paediatric ENT

The
position is full time for 1year and it offers the opportunity to obtain
specialised experience in Paediatric ENT, especially in complex Paediatric
Airway Surgery and management in a multidisciplinary team approach. The
Department also provides hearing implants and complex ear, Rhinology and head
and neck surgery and routine and MDT clinics for our Paediatric ENT patients.
There will be the flexibility for rotation to the respective theatre lists and
clinics according to interest. The successful candidate will have an on-call
commitment in hours for the Paediatric Airway service and will be working
closely with Miss S. ODonnell, Miss A. Dritsoula and Miss E. Kershaw. There is
also the option to be part of the 1:7 on-call rota at an experienced SpR level
for both children and adults.
MAIN
DUTIES
The
Senior Fellow will be expected to:
1.Work for the Paediatric Airway Service,
including managing referrals from
Neonatal and Paediatric HDU and PICU
2.
Train in /deliver elective and emergency surgery
3.
Deliver Paediatric ENT clinics

INFORMATION
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
Leeds
is a large city with the third largest metropolitan population in the country.
The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the largest NHS Trusts in the
UK. The Bexley Wing of St James Hospital is a state-of-the art oncology centre,
serving the whole region.
The
ENT department has been rehoused in a new area, offering adjacency of clinic,
consultant office, secretaries and management staff, which greatly enhances the
working environment. Theatres are in the same area as our related specialties,
allowing ease of inter-specialty work. The paediatric work is carried out in
the adjacent Childrens Hospital, with excellent ward and ICU facilities.

ENT unit consists of 14 Consultants.
There
are currently 1 Associate Specialist, 2 Fellows, 4 Specialty Registrars and 7
Core Trainees/GP Trainees/Foundation Year 2 Trainees making this a thriving
department covering almost all aspects of ENT surgery.

CONDITIONS
OF SERVICE
This
post is covered by the Hospital Medical and Dental Staff (England and Wales)

The
post holder is required to be fully registered with the General Medical Council
(GMC) and hold a licence to practice.
Standards
of Conduct and Behaviour
You
are required to work to the standards set out by the General Medical Council in
Good Medical Practice. This includes
protecting patients when you believe that a doctors or other colleagues
conduct, performance or health is a threat to them. If, after establishing the facts, it is
necessary, you must follow the Trusts procedures in this matter and inform
your Clinical Director or Medical Director in the first instance.
The

behaviours and skills that are expected of managers and supervisors.
Leave
Arrangements
All
leave should be applied for in accordance with the Trusts Leave Policy,
normally giving eight weeks notice of any leave, other than in exceptional
circumstances.
Training
The
jobholder must take responsibility in agreement with his/her line manager for
his/her own personal development by ensuring that Continuous Professional
Development remains a priority. The
jobholder will undertake all mandatory training required for the role.
