Job summary
This
is a PA locum appointment for a Consultant Radiologist, with special interests
in HN & Endocrine. This post will be available from September 2024 for a
period of 3 months.
This
post will deliver 5 PAs supporting the HN & Endocrine team Dr Shishir
Karthik, Dr Seung-Jin Choi, Dr Amir Zarei and the HN & Endocrine team. A strong commitment to undergraduate and
postgraduate teaching is desirable. An ongoing commitment to Research is highly
desirable. There will be opportunities to contribute to the MDTs. The post
will be based cross-site at SJUH/LGI
The
successful applicant should hold accreditation in FRCR in the Royal College of
Radiologists or equivalent and should be on the Specialist Register or within
six months of being admitted to the Register for trainees if currently in a
training programme within the UK, or have references which have been authorised
by the Deputy Medical Director and Clinical Director.
Applicants
should have established skills in HN and Endocrine Radiology and its related
specialties including Thyroid and Parathyroid Imaging. Excellent communication and team working
skills, a strong commitment to teaching and service development are essential.
Main duties of the job
The
successful applicant will join the current team of Radiologists who support the
Head & Neck MDT and provide additional support to the Thyroid and
Parathyroid MDTs, support to the on call diagnostic rota, ongoing and planned
expansions pertaining of Head and Neck and Endocrine Imaging and expansion of
acute CT services across sites at LTHT. The post holder will also be expected
to join the team which has a strong ethos of supporting the development of
sonographers in developing extended roles to perform specialist neck US and and
US guided FNA/biopsies.
In
addition, will link with Consultant colleagues in other relevant site
specialist teams within the Radiology MIS CSU and across the Trust
and
work with colleagues into deliver acute diagnostic on call (currently 1 in 22
with split weekends) for Radiology. This includes both out-of-hours cover in
addition to acute CT during normal working hours.
They
will also contribute to research, teaching, and new developments within the
Radiology CSU. The post holder will be encouraged to facilitate and contribute
to the current clinical research programs on going in the department.

Essential
- Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practice.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Is up to date and fit to practise safely
- Have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients & colleagues demonstrated by one of the followiing
- Applicants have undertaken undergraduate medical training in English. OR Achieved the minimum score of 7 across all 4 of the following categories in the academic International English
- Language Testing System (IELTS) in a single sitting within 24 months at time of application Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. (An overall minimum score of 7.5) OR
- Achieved the minimum Grade B across all 4 of the following categories in the Occupational English Test (OET) in medicine in a single sitting within 24 months at time of application
