Job summary
This
is a 10 PA locum appointment for a Consultant Radiologist, with special
interests in GIHPB. This post will be available from September 2024 for a
period of 5 months.
This
post will deliver 10 PAs supporting the GIHPB Radiology team (Dr Joshua Bell,
Dr Raneem Albazaz, Dr Rachel Allard, Dr Ruth England, Dr James Ashley Guthrie,
Dr Rachel Hyland, Dr Thomas Kaye, Dr Hannah Lambie, Dr Adam Laverty, Dr Claire
Smith, Dr Elen Thomson & Dr Damian Tolan).
The post will be based at SJUH.
The
successful applicant should hold accreditation in FRCR in the Royal College of
Radiologists or equivalent and should be on the Specialist Register or within
six months of being admitted to the Register for trainees if currently in a
training programme within the UK or have references which have been authorised
by the Deputy Medical Director and Clinical Director.
Applicants
should have established skills in GIHPB Radiology. Excellent communication and team working
skills, a strong commitment to teaching and service development are essential.
Main duties of the job
This
new post in GIHPB radiology is required to meet increasing demand on the GIHPB
and Acute Radiology services. The post will help fill gaps in the service due
to loss of DCC from the existing consultant workforce and to increase cold
reporting capacity, improve provision of acute services and support the
regional tertiary level GIHPB cancer MDTs. It is highly desirable for
prospective applicants to have a sub-specialty interest in HPB radiology.
The
appointee will be required to contribute to the existing diagnostic GIHPB
radiology workload and MDT commitment.
Specifically, the appointee will be expected to join the small
sub-speciality team providing support to the Leeds Liver Unit, one of the
largest liver units in the UK. In particular the appointee is required to have
experience in imaging assessment for live related liver donors. Contributing to the nationally renowned live
related liver transplant service is an essential requirement of the job.

specialise in HPB radiology, 6 in luminal radiology and one in general
radiology as well as 3 advanced practice radiographers who support the
fluoroscopy and CTC service.
