An opportunity has arisen for a Junior Clinical Fellow post to join the Haematology Department at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (LTHT). This will be a 12 month post. This post is to deliver care to adult Haematology patients in the inpatient setting.
Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen to be a key member of the Haematology team in Bexley Wing at St. Jamess Hospital site, covering inpatient care and gaining experience across a wide range of Haematological subspecialty areas including myeloma, chronic lymphoproliferative disorders, high grade lymphomas, autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplant, acute and chronic leukaemias, and CAR-T therapy.
To further develop interests in the above areas and to participate in the relevant MDTs.
The candidate is expected to be able to work at SHO level (FY2 and above).
This is an outstanding opportunity for an initial 12 month post without out of hours/on call commitments. However there may be opportunities to undertake out of hours/on call work when vacant shifts require locum cover.
Attend daily morning handover.
Review and manage inpatients and attend ward rounds on the haematology wards working with different subspecialty teams - myeloid, bone marrow transplant, lymphoma, myeloma, chronic lymphoproliferative disorders, haemostasis & thrombosis.
To be part of the inpatient team working together with members of the MDT - consultants, physician associates, SAS doctors, STRs, IMT, Foundation Year doctors, nurse specialists etc.
Assess patients attending the haematology assessment unit acutely.
See patients on the day unit and chemo unit when required.

The Haematology team is a large multidisciplinary team and is part of the Oncology Clinical Services Unit (CSU) at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. We are based within Bexley Wing at St James University Hospital and provide inpatient, day case, and outpatient care to adult haematology patients covering malignant and non-malignant haematology, bone marrow transplant, immune effector cell therapy, and clinical trials. There is also a Teenage and Young Adult Unit.
