Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a 10 PA locum appointment for a consultant in Neurophysiology to join the dynamic and friendly Neurophysiology department at Leeds General Infirmary.

The clinical neurophysiology department has been expanding over the last 4 years both in terms of medical staff and physiologists. Multiple new services have been launched. Plans are in place for further expansion of both services and staff in the future.

The successful candidate will join a friendly and pro-active department, looking to assist and at times, lead in clinical service provision, teaching and training, service development and audit. Experience in advanced techniques in clinical neurophysiology is desirable.

The successful applicant should possess M/FRCP (or equivalent) and should be included on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview, if currently within a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointment regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the Specialist Register.

Applicants should have established skills in clinical neurophysiology. A strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a research interest is desirable.

It is anticipated that this locum post will be made substantive within the next 6 months.

About us

The post will be based at Leeds General Infirmary. Neurophysiology is within the Neurosciences CSU. The CSU brings together the core services providing the clinical management support for the departments of Neurophysiology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Stroke and Spinal Surgery. Mr Robert Rathbone is the General Manager of the CSU, Dr John Steele is Clinical Director and Mr Robin Darby is Head of Nursing. Dr Taimour Alam is Clinical Lead for Neurophysiology and Miss Clair Lodge is Clinical Services Manager. Ms Linda Hayward is the Business Manager for Neurophysiology, stroke and neurology.
