Job summary

We are inviting applicants to join our busy but welcoming neonatal team as a Trust Doctor based at the Leeds General Infirmary in West Yorkshire. Posts are available from September 2023 for an initial period of 6 months. This role is suitable for applicants at ST1/2 LST with experience in neonates and paediatrics. It is ideally suited to candidates wishing to work in a large teaching hospital which provides many specialist services and is ideal for anyone wishing to pursue a career in neonatology.

Participating in a 1 in 15 full shift rota, which includes nights and twilights. This post will deliver care to neonatal patients on the neonatal unit and postnatal wards. You would be liaising with colleagues in other specialties and hospitals, seeing acutely sick babies and clerking in new patients, composing discharge summaries and requesting investigations.

As the holder of this role you will be expected to assist on the neonatal unit and postnatal wards as well as providing on-call cover. We offer comprehensive educational and clinical supervision for every doctor and encourage participation in quality improvement and research.

Applicants must have full GMC registration.

The Leeds Centre for Newborn Care is one of the largest neonatal services in the UK and is a tertiary neonatal unit. We provide specialist care to around 1,700 babies each year, many of whom need intensive care or surgery. We care for babies from the whole of the Yorkshire region (the largest network in the UK with 42,000 deliveries per year) and beyond.
