Advert
for a Clinical Fellow in Congenital Cardiac Surgery at the Leeds General
Infirmary campus of the Leeds Teaching Hospitals.
The
Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust is one of the largest NHS Trusts in the UK and
is a Supra-Regional Centre for Congenital Cardiac Surgery.
The
Trust has one vacancy for a Clinical Fellow in Congenital Cardiac Surgery. This
post is fixed term for 12 months. The post does not, at present, carry
educational approval from the Yorkshire Deanery. This post is ideal for anyone
with prior cardiac surgical experience, wishing to consolidate or gain further
experience in Paediatric and Adult Congenital Cardiac Surgery. Post CCT holders
are welcome to apply.
The
post holder will usually spend their time in the congenital operating theatres,
and is involve in the Congenital out-patients. They will provide surgical
support to the PICU/ICU, and the paediatric and adult congenital wards, and in
the weekly MDT meeting.
This
post holder will contribute to a non-resident 1:5 dedicated congenital cardiac
surgery on call rota

DUTIES
OF THE POST
The
post holder will assist the Consultant Surgeons in the operating theatre for
2-3
days per week and supports the cardiac ICUs and wards. They will attend the
weekly
multidisciplinary meeting and departmental audit meetings. They will
attend
one outpatient clinic per week
The
post holder will participate in the 1:5 non-resident on call rota for the
Congenital
Cardiac Surgery Service
The
seniority of the post holder will at Registrar level in the operating theatre,
ICU and wards and outpatients and the administrative
duties associated with this.

- MRCS 1 or equivalent at time of application
Eligibility, Fitness to practice, and Language Skills
Desirable
- Be eligible for full registration with, and hold a current licence to practise from, the GMC at intended start date
- Evidence of achievement of ST3 competences in congenital cardiac surgery at time of application & ST3 competences in congenital cardiac surgery by time of appointment or equivalent.
- Training in adult cardiac surgery and preferably has experience in congenital cardiac surgery.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Advanced Life Support Certificate from the Resuscitation Council UK or equivalent (as required to complete Foundation competences) by intended start date
