Job summary
This
is a 10 PA appointment for a Specialty Doctor to support the delivery of
COVID-19 trials at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. This post will be available to
March 2024.
This
post will deliver 10 PAs supporting the Research and Innovation team led by
Dr Ai Lyn Tan, Director of Research and Innovation.
The
post-holder will provide support and medical oversight for a wide range of
early phase clinical trials conducted on the NIHR Leeds Clinical Research
Facility and all interventional COVID-19 clinical trials taking place in the
Trust. These includes platform studies including RECOVERY and HEAL-COVID for
the inpatient population, COVID vaccination studies and studies looking at
protecting the immunosuppressed population. There may also be the opportunity
for providing medical cover and support for other clinical trials underway in
the Trust.
Main duties of the job
The
post will be based at the St. James' University Hospital site but with travel
to other Trust sites as required.
Applicants should have excellent communication and
team working skills and a strong commitment to teaching and service development
are essential. Applicants should be comfortable dealing with medical
emergencies and have a broad medical knowledge as the role will require
cross-specialty working. The post offers a unique chance to work with no ward
commitments and full-time in Clinical Research particularly for those who have
not been on the Academic Training Pathway so far. There is potential within
some projects to get authorship on large national studies. Previous Academic
Foundation Trainees or Academic Clinical Fellows would also be welcome and
would get more hands-on experience of research delivery.
