Leeds Teaching Hospitals

Apprentice Advanced Clinical Practitioner

The closing date is 28 April 2026

Job summary

Are you looking for a new challenge and career development with an aspiration to develop your clinical practice? We are looking for motivated, enthusiastic and dynamic senior healthcare professionals to join our Advanced Practice workforce.

We have several multi-professional Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner (TACP) roles available for clinicians with statutory regulation who have appropriate post registration experience.

Advanced Practice is well established at Leeds Teaching Hospitals and is seen as integral to the delivery of high quality and safe patient care. These roles would be joining an evolving and progressive workforce contributing to innovative, transformative and sustainable services to meet the current and future needs of our patients.

We are offering TACP posts in a number of specialties across the organisation. These posts will be provided as higher-level apprenticeships in Advanced Practice, initially on a 3-year training contract and include the completion of an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice.

TACPs will be supported through high-quality clinical supervision, with time dedicated for training and continuing professional development.

This role will involve both clinical and academic training, supported by LTHT as your employer and our chosen CfAP accredited Higher Education Institute. As this is an apprenticeship programme much of your learning and training will be achieved in the workplace as an integrated part of the clinical workforce.

Main duties of the job

There are several roles available across the Leeds Childrens Hospital. Please refer to the attached additional information document for individual adverts, contacts and specific details of roles.

We currently have posts available within the following paediatric specialties:

Paediatric Haematology and Oncology

Paediatric Surgery

Please note there is a separate advert for Adult posts.

As a TACP you will work as part of our multi-professional workforce providing direct clinical care, assessing and diagnosing patients as well as implementing and evaluating treatment and interventions alongside the medical teams. You will be supported to develop independent practice across all four pillars of advanced practice; demonstrating and evidencing all the capabilities of the Multi-Professional Advanced Practice Framework (NHSE 2025).

Successful completion of training includes the achievement of both an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice and specialty clinical capability frameworks, alongside demonstration of advanced level practice in leadership, research and education. On successful completion all trainees will be eligible to transition into a permanent Band 8a ACP post within their specialty.

As an organisation we are committed to supporting flexible working including part time hours however as part of the apprentice standard, the minimum contracted hours allowable are 30 hours per week.
