Main duties of the job
As
Senior Health and Safety Advisor, youll take on a varied and rewarding role
with real influence. Youll:
Act as deputy to the Head of Health
and Safety, providing leadership and support across the Trust
Guide and support the Health and
Safety Advisor and lead on key policy areas
Lead investigations into serious
incidents, producing clear, evidence-based reports with practical
recommendations
Work closely with departments to
strengthen local safety practices and build confidence in managing risk
Develop and implement health and
safety policies, procedures and audits that support long-term improvement
Design, deliver and evaluate
engaging training for staff across all disciplines and levels
Collaborate with Estates,
Occupational Health, Risk Management and clinical services
Represent the Trust at internal
governance forums and regional safety groups

This
is a pivotal and rewarding role at the heart of the Trusts Health and Safety
Team. As Senior Health and Safety Advisor, you will support the Head of
Health and Safety in promoting a proactive, values-led safety culture across
Leeds Teaching Hospitals. Youll provide trusted advice to staff and
managers, contribute to the development of policy, and help services meet
their responsibilities in a complex and fast-paced healthcare setting.
You
will lead on defined areas of health and safety, support and guide the Health
and Safety Advisor, and play a key role in coordinating the Trusts annual
health and safety audit programme. This includes working closely with
departments to review their practices, offer clear, practical advice, and
support meaningful local improvements.
You
will also contribute to incident reviews, often working alongside clinical
and operational leaders, to ensure learning is shared and safety
strengthened. Youll help design and deliver training, represent the team in
Trust-wide meetings, and build collaborative relationships with departments
including Estates, Risk Management and Occupational Health.

- NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent eligible for CMIOSH)

- Formal qualification in teaching/training and development
