salary for this role is subject to review and may change. We anticipate the salary will be confirmed

We
are looking for a dynamic Allied Health Professional, with a passion for
research, to take a key role in developing and implementing national
initiatives to provide research career opportunities for Allied Health
Professionals (AHPs) across the National Institute for Health and Care
Research (NIHR).
The
NIHR enables and delivers world-leading health and social care research that
improves people's health and wellbeing and promotes economic growth. We are
keen to improve the opportunities we provide for AHPs hence were appointing
an Associate Director: Allied Health Professions to lead initiatives relevant
to the 15 Allied Health Professions.
This
is also an opportunity to provide professional leadership for NIHR-funded
AHPs working in all health and care sectors and contexts, and for the
advancement of these professions within the NIHR.

Main duties of the job
The
successful applicant will be responsible for developing and delivering a wide
portfolio of important and high profile activity for the NIHR. This will
include:
- implementing
NIHR strategy to support research capacity and capability development for
AHPs,
- contributing
to policy development where it relates to AHPs,
- ensuring
best practice in research inclusion,
- providing
visible leadership for AHPs across NIHR and more widely,
- acting
as a champion and advocate for AHP research careers,
- liaising
with national AHP stakeholder groups such as CAHPR
- monitoring
and disseminating the impact of their activity and
- contributing
to the wider portfolio of NIHR activity for health and care professionals.

Health and Social Care (DHSC). The post holder will be part of the NIHR
Nursing and Midwifery team, a cross-NIHR function.

AHP
Expertise and Leadership
The
post holder will lead the development and delivery of a portfolio of
programmes and schemes run through NIHRCC and CRNCC and as part of this will
be expected to:
- Take
overall responsibility for a manage budgets for programme activities as
delegated within the organisations overall budget funding. Also defining the specification for items
and services to be purchased, and evaluating and approving quotes as
appropriate.
- Take
lead responsibility for translating national strategy as it relates to the
NIHR and devising and managing implementation plans relevant to AHPs on a
national scale, including supporting the delivery of NIHRs Strategy, Best
Research for Best Health: the Next Chapter.
- Contribute
to the high level and strategic financial management of the CRL Programme.
- Analysis
and evaluation of programmes and overseeing the implementation of changes
agreed as a result of evaluation work.
- Oversee
a programme of outreach and engagement with key stakeholders and communities
relevant to the post holders portfolio, including the delivery of events,
workshops and meetings.
- Overseeing
the commissioning and contract procurement for programmes and schemes within
their portfolio
- Ensure
the delivery of NIHR Programmes is in line with NIHR SOPs and DHSC
requirements.
- Ensure
appropriate Key Performance Indicators and delivery of an annual programme of
work is in line with business plans.

a leading role on organisation wide initiatives of national strategic

The
post holder will be expected to lead and manage a small team and work with
other NIHRCC and CRNCC teams to:
- Offer
leadership, advice and support to the NIHR colleagues in maintaining and
developing current and new streams of work related to AHPs.
- Proactively
work with the other health and care professions engaged in research design
and delivery, to strengthen collaborative working that drives the innovation,
efficiency and dissemination of research.
- Overall
responsibility for planning highly complex workloads with a broad range of
activities, some that are on-going and some which require formulation and
adjustment of plans or strategies. The workloads can be highly evolutionary
needing to adapt plans in a rapidly changing environment.
- Develop
and oversee team goals and objectives in order to deliver against key
milestones and KPIs
- Create
and maintain a culture of inclusivity
- Ensure
delivery of activities and projects in line with business plans and KPIs
