Job summary

Are you a web guru? Would you like to experience working in one of the UKs busiest NHS Trusts?

Were looking for a Web Manager to support and champion the on-going development of our intranet and website, making sure these resources are easy to use, accessible and work effectively. Managing a small team, youll work closely with Trust Communications and our external supplier, identifying clear requirements for development and ensuring all activity meets quality and accessibility guidelines. Youll also be responsible for leading our approach to devolved content editing, managing our user groups and developing clear requirements for content administrators.

Youll have sound technical understanding, experience and knowledge of content management systems, ideally WordPress, and youll also understand how to use Google Analytics to develop actionable insights and reporting.

This is a varied, challenging and interesting role with scope to make a real difference to the Trusts web assets

Main duties of the job

Support and champion the on-going development of our intranet and website.

Identify and communicate clear requirements for development.

Ensure all activity meets quality and accessibility guidelines.

Lead the Trusts approach to devolved content editing, developing clear, consistent requirements and guidance for content administrators.

Manage and develop our web related user groups.

Use Google Analytics to develop actionable insights and reporting.

Management of a small team.

About us

Digital Communications is part of the Trusts IT team. Were a small team with lots of varied skills, and we work closely with Corporate Communications, particularly supporting the more technical side of the Trusts approach to digital communications channels. Were mainly working from home at the moment, but we catch up regularly on Microsoft Teams and provide lots of virtual support for each other as needed. No two days are ever the same, and our work is really rewarding we get the opportunity to work with lots of fantastic teams and colleagues across the Trust on challenging, exciting projects which bring our Trust values to life.

Job responsibilities

The post holder is responsible for the development and maintenance of the Trusts Intranet and Internet presence. This involves requirement gathering, planning and supporting the implementation of future and existing functionality to meet requirements, ensuring alignment with the IT strategy and Trust standards.

The post holder needs to have a wide range of skills and experience in website management and will proactively keep this knowledge up to date. This will include a sound understanding of content management systems, ideally WordPress, content accessibility, user experience, and methods of analysing and improving website performance and usability.

The postholder will work closely with several different teams:

The Communications team, who is ultimately responsible for intranet and internet content

The Trusts website developer, an external agency

Other members of the IT team responsible for hardware and infrastructure

The role also involves line managing a small team, so previous experience of management is necessary.

The post holder is responsible for providing consultancy to many of the Trusts IT projects, as well as assisting in the implementation of web-based systems which adhere to governmental guidelines for accessibility and usability.

The post holder is expected to represent and uphold the Trusts identity as Webmaster in all matters relating to the Internet. This will involve communication with the general public as well as related third parties.

The post holder is expected to work with the minimum of supervision, exercising initiative and judgement to effectively provide support.

The post holder will support devolved editing, providing direction and guidance to colleagues with web publishing responsibilities across the Trust. This requires customer facing skills and a strong understanding of business requirements.

The post holder will liaise with a number of external agencies, including the Trusts web development agency and external hosting suppliers.

The post holder will ensure that processes and procedures comply with legislation requirements covering Health & Safety, Data Protection and Confidentiality.
