In this role you would be working collaboratively with external stakeholders and internal clients to deliver a high quality, customer focussed service to Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust and partner organisations. You will be the first point of contact for managers, existing employees and prospective employees including those applying internationally from other countries. You will provide advice regarding recruitment and terms and conditions, eligibility to work in the UK, mandatory pre-employment checks and other employment related matters across multiple recruitment teams including international recruitment.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for all aspects of the screening process for new and existing employees, in line with NHS Employers Employment Checks Standards and relevant statutory guidance. You will provide recruitment advice and support to existing employees, managers, prospective and successful candidates.

The Trust engages in approximately 6500 recruitment cycles annually (some 20% of which relate to training grade and substantive medical posts)

You will be responsible for completing pre-employment checks, e.g. DBS, Occupational Health, references, professional registration and Right to Work.

You will issue offers of appointment and contracts of employment, and will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up to date records associated with the recruitment process.

You may be required to assist in the organisation and delivery of other selection and induction events.

Job responsibilities

Ensure all aspects of the screening process for new and existing employees is carried out in line with NHS Employers Employment Checks Standards and relevant statutory guidance; Including right to work checks, visas, leave to remain, professional registration, and the Disclosure and Barring service checks, referring more complex queries to the Recruitment Officer.

Liaise with managers, staff and external organisations as required (including the Home Office and NMC) to facilitate the completion of pre-employment checks.

Provide recruitment advice and support to line managers, specifically in relation to recruitment procedures and basic terms and conditions of employment (including starting salaries).

Ensure appointments are made in accordance with the relevant and most up to date NHS terms and conditions of employment.

Ensure that Payroll documentation is accurately completed, recorded and submitted to the payroll department.

Create and maintain Electronic Staff Records (ESR), involving accurate completion of records to ensure new starters are correctly entered for payroll purposes and retrieving data from ESR relating to contractual issues.

Advise recruiting managers on the use of the NHS careers website (NHS Jobs), placing rolling adverts on the website and retrieving applications from e-recruitment.

Assist in organising selection and induction events for campaign based recruitment events, as required

Support the Senior Team Leader in organising Advisory Appointment Committees for consultants.

Ensure employee information on ESR is accurate, up to date and reviewed as necessary for, e.g. work permits, professional registrations.

Ensure that any pay queries are dealt with in a timely and professional manner, liaising with payroll and pensions departments as necessary.

To objectively deal with difficult situations including queries from staff on terms and conditions of employment and Trust Policy interpretation and with members of the public around the recruitment and have the ability to tackle and resolve difficult issues with tact and sensitivity.

Other administrative duties commensurate with the grade, including involvement in recruitment related project work, as directed by the Resourcing Manager.
