An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, proactive, motivated and passionate individual to join the Head and Neck Clinical Service Unit working as an Assistant Patient Services Coordinator (APSC). The individual will be based in our Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) outpatients department at the Leeds General Infirmary.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone wishing to further their career development and to gain experience in a large and diverse department with both Inpatient and Outpatient care.

There are 3 posts available, 1 is a full time permanent role, 1 is a part time (22.5 hours) permanent role and 1 is a 12 month fixed term contract to cover a secondment.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to support the ENT inpatient and outpatient services through waiting list management, developing staff and providing a support role to the management team to proactively deliver performance targets and service improvement. This post is pivotal in providing key operational support to ensure the delivery of quality, patient focused service, with a key focus on validation and RTT management.

The Assistant PSC will able to communicate sensitively and effectively with a wide range of people including patients, clinical staff and administrative colleagues. The Assistant PSC will support the Patient Services Co-ordinators and Business Managers to provide a high-quality service that align with Trust standards.

The post holder is expected to be an effective team player, with the ability to work flexibly in a diverse and demanding environment to meet the evolving needs of the business. The role would therefore suit someone with experience in an administrative role who is looking for a new challenge. For the right person this role offers an opportunity to develop your skillset and improve patient care in a high profile and supporting trust.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE ENT DEPARTMENT

Leeds is a large city with the third largest metropolitan population in the country. The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the largest NHS Trusts in the UK. The Bexley Wing of St James Hospital is a state of the art oncology centre, serving the whole region.

The ENT department has recently been rehoused in a new area on C Floor, Brotherton Wing, offering adjacency of clinic, consultant office, secretaries and management staff, which greatly enhances the working environment. Theatres are in the same area as our related specialties, allowing ease of interspecialty work. The paediatric work is carried out in the adjacent Childrens Hospital.

The ENT Department comprises 15 substantive Consultants, 7 middle grades and 8 juniors (GP registrars, core surgical trainees and aspiring ENT surgeons), delivering a high quality tertiary referral ENT Service.
