Job summary
We
have a fantastic opportunity for someone to join our Team as a Senior
Assistant CSU Accountant. This is an essential position within the Team which
supports clinical and non-clinical service units, providing financial
information and advice, working in partnership with financial and
non-financial colleagues from within and outside of the organisation.
Within
this post, you will play a part in meeting the Trusts objectives, providing
expert advice and control to deliver value for money of services funded by
the taxpayer.
As
part of a wider team and with clinical and non-clinical colleagues, this role
provides exposure to a varied agenda, with a clear focus on putting the
patient at the centre of everything we do.
This

Main duties of the job
This
role provides the day-to-day financial support to clinical and non-clinical
service units under the direction of a designated Accountant e.g.
Performance reporting and
monitoring preparing reports, analysing information, highlighting risk, and
developing new ways of analysing information to support managers in the
delivery of the trusts financial objectives
Budgetary management and support
providing advice, risk assessing, and supporting to refine plans
Business planning and value for
money identifying cost pressures and suggesting potential improvements,
modelling different scenarios, and ongoing review of plans

PURPOSE
The

With support from senior staff, to

by the more senior members of the team, including the overseeing of tasks
completed by the more junior members of the team.

The
post holder will work in a finance team which has lead responsibility for
supporting a designated number of business units (personally supporting one
of the designated accountants) and in providing cross-cover for others.
This
will involve helping to provide a financial management service on a day to
day basis to the business unit management team and other budget
manager/stakeholders pertaining to the business unit.
The
postholder will be expected to work with other Senior Assistant & Assistant
CSU Accountants in the team to coordinate tasks such as those involved in
budget setting which cut across the team, providing support to more junior
colleagues in order to ensure efficient and effective completion.
In
addition the postholder will be expected to participate in projects in
support of the Finance Directorates own agenda and responsibilities.

Associate Director of Finance, supported by a Finance Business Partner,
within each team there is a structure designed to best support the needs of
the service and the needs of the business units it is aligned to.

- Education and knowledge equivalent to the postgraduate diploma level of a professional accountancy qualification
- 5 GCSE/O levels or equivalent, to include Maths and English
Desirable
- Part qualified status (of CCAB or CIMA)
- AAT qualified
Experience

- Specialist knowledge of accounting concepts, conventions, policies and procedures
- Detailed understanding of financial ledgers and finance software business tools and how to use these to produce bespoke reports and analyse.
- Provision of management accounting information and advice to managers and other staff
- Maintaining and developing comprehensive systems to monitor expenditure and income
- Liaising with stakeholders to discuss and address financial issues

- Experience of working within the NHS
