Job summary

A rare opportunity to join the Clinical Contracting Team, at a senior level, working as part of the Team and individually to manage a range of products used in areas such as Cardiology, Radiology and Endoscopy to support our Clinicals and Management Teams in their delivery of to excellent patient treatment. This role provides an opportunity for you to gain an in depth knowledge of understanding of the Medical Devices Market, the introduction and trail of new products and the opportunity to use your knowledge to recognise and implement new products and processes within the Trust.

The successful candidate will be open to and understand change and its management and be confident in guiding a team. They should be able to recognise and develop new opportunities from working with our Clinicians, Nurses, Management Teams and Suppliers to support innovations and value for money. We encourage our Teams to engage with the areas they look after to gain an understanding of the products and how and why they are used.

Main duties of the job

Under the direction of the Head of Contracts and or the Associate Director, Commercial & Procurement, to be responsible for the negotiation and purchase / contracting of a range of high value complex medical consumable items and services throughout Leeds Teaching Hospitals, that require analysis, comparison and assessment.

Manage the procurement functions in conjunction with members of the Contracting Team or Category Management Team, ensuring adherence to quality standards.

Negotiate a range of contracts as agreed with the Head of Contracts providing best value across a range of products and services. Agree with the Head of Contracts or the Associate Director, Commercial & Procurement annual work plans for the Contracting Team, implement and monitor performance against the plan.

Work to pre agreed K.P.Is to produce cash releasing savings which are reported to the Trust Board.

Carry out research and contributes advice on the introduction of new products and ensures that appropriate trials are undertaken and recorded and assist with the standardisation programme.

Manage certain members of the Contracting or Category Management Team on a day to day basis being responsible for their professional development and performances.

Liaise with the Associate Director, Commercial & Procurement to develop a comprehensive Supplies Strategy for the Trust.

About us

The position forms part of the Trusts Supplies Contracting and or Category Management Team providing purchasing & contracting service for approximately £100m of annualised spend across a range of both medical and non-medical goods and services.Work with and liaise with Purchasing Collaborative Groups to provide advice on best practice and value for money initiatives including the negotiation of consortia contracts.In conjunction with other departments and Managers develop and implement systems to monitor and report on the performance of the Supplies function aiming for continuous improvements.

Implement devolved purchasing order processing for particular supplies customers ensuring that purchasing is undertaken within the agreed parameters and in accordance with the Trusts Standing Financial Instructions.Liaise with Finance colleagues particularly Creditor Payments and Financial Services to ensure effective cross team working.
