You are the first contact point of our department, you begin the process of the end user (the Patient) receiving the medical support they need, by co-ordinating the timely receipt, organisation and re-distribution of medical supplies. Working in collaboration with couriers and delivery drivers, the Warehouse Supervisor and Manager and our Materials Management teams across the Trust, this can be a varied role with countless possibilities to grow your knowledge and skills. This role is based at our Receipt & Distribution facility, at St James Hospital site. We are looking for one full time (37.5 Hrs/week) and one half-time (18 hrs/week)-would suit University student looking to supplement their income or person seeking part-time employment.

Main duties of the job

Under the direction of the Warehouse Supervisor, you'll be responsible for the safe receipt of goods into designated stores.

You'll be ensuring that goods are accurately checked against purchase orders and ensures timely and accurate computerised goods receipting is undertaken. Distribute goods to the relevant departments using the correct lifting and handling equipment to ensure all Health and Safety guidelines are met. Ensure that all goods received by customers have the necessary paperwork and signature of receipt thus providing trace-ability and to satisfy Audit requirements. You'll assist in ensuring that the Stores is a safe and tidy environment and that all security procedures are adhered to and provide front end contact with customers and be the link between receipt within the stores and the distribution of goods. This role will involve a moderate amount of time spent working outside or in an open environment.

About us

The Supplies and Procurement department is made up of approximately 140 staff and the various teams are based throughout the Trust. (St James University Hospital, Leeds General Infirmary, Chapel Allerton, Seacroft and Wharfedale Hospital). The department as a whole consists of the contracting sections for both Clinical and Non-Clinical, e- Procurement, Materials Management (Supply Chain), Scan4Safety and ICT Procurement. You will be based at Dolly Lane, SJUH but you will travel across sites when required. At every step of the process, our priority is always our end user (the Patient) although this job can be physically challenging, it offers a great sense of job-satisfaction and our team members are proud to work for Leeds Teaching Hospitals. The position forms part of a team of nine Whole Time Equivalents (WTE), providing a stores and distribution service for a range of medical and non-medical goods.

The department is targeted with cash releasing targets in excess of £2m per annum and the post holder will be expected to contribute wherever possible in meeting this target

5. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Experience of working within a stores and distribution environment.

Knowledge and experience of the various procurement IT systems within Supplies.

Knowledge of the receipting process, including delivery, ordering and invoicing options.

The ability to work as a team member and liaise with colleagues and customers at all levels.

Good communication skills and the ability to deal with customers courteously and effectively within a hospital environment.

Understanding of customer requirements that are particular to the Healthcare industry.

Demonstrates evidence of continual personal development and training, particularly working towards relevant NVQs.

Willingness to undertake further training and development, either internally or externally. To undertake all mandatory training required for the role, particularly attending refresher training on an annual basis.

To ensure that all aspects of Health and Safety and security protocols are adhered to.

The receipt, marshalling, moving and distribution of goods to the correct destination within the Trust.

Ensures goods received are accurately checked against purchase orders and ensures timely and accurate computerised goods receipting is undertaken.

Maintains adequate file records of receipts as required in accordance with Supplies and Audit requirements.

The loading and offloading of goods from delivery vehicles as required, utilising lifting and handling equipment.

To maintain lifting and handling equipment in good working order and use it to maximum efficiency. Reports any faulty equipment to the Stores Manager.

Occasional need to drive internal stores transport.

Ensures that the stores is a safe and tidy environment and that all necessary security procedures for the safe storage and distribution of goods are in place.

Picks inventory items from stock, makes ready for onwards despatch to customers.

Completes internal documentation as required to produce an internal audit trail of non-stock and inventory items.Safe handling of potentially hazardous goods in accordance with Health and Safety and COSHH guidelines.
