The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is looking for flexible and reliable individuals to work as Facilities Technicians (Patient Environment) at Leeds General Infirmary, St James's Hospital, Chapel Allerton hospital, Seacroft and Wharfedale sites.

We currently have permanent vacancies, for Facilities Technicians to work as Ward Housekeepers on Wards, department areas or public spaces.

Posts available: Monday to Friday work patterns PM (Afternoons, evenings)

- POST TYPE ONE: 12:00 - 18:30

- POST TYPE TWO: 12:30 - 19:00

- POST TYPE THREE: 13:00 - 19:30

- POST TYPE FOUR: 15:00 - 19:00

- POST TYPE FIVE: 15:30 - 19:30

- POST TYPE SIX: 16:00-19:00

- POST TYPE SEVEN: 14:00-20:00

- POST TYPE EIGHT: 14:00-22:00

- POST TYPE SIX: 17:00 - 21:00

Please note at this time we have NO weekend posts available.

Successful applicants will be invited to an interview assessment centre held on 12/07/2025, however this is subject to change.

The assessment centre will consist of an interview with set questions for the candidates around activities such as cleaning, ward food service, task prioritisation, infection prevention. Details of which may be taken from the attached job description. There will also be a short interactive test where the candidate is asked to take part in a mock patient interaction within the role expectation, such as a role completing the meal food order.

The roles will provide cleaning duties (dusting, mopping, cleaning toilets, sinks, patient beds etc) within either wards, departments or public areas, dependant on which role the successful candidates are appointed into. Within ward areas the role is also required to complete full catering services to patients (after training has been given).

- Ensuring the environment is cleaned to the highest standards.

- Catering duties involve a caring, Patient centred approach to meal & beverage services.

- There will be an expectation to complete ad-hoc duties when required.

Full Training and a uniform will be provided.

A full enhanced DBS check will be required for all roles

Reporting directly to the Facilities Operational Supervisors. The roles include provision of catering, cleaning, or portering across any of the Trust sites.

Key objectives of the role:

Ensuring the environment is cleaned within ward, departments or public areas to the highest standards, in line with infection prevention policies.

Providing a meal and beverage service to the patients including the preparation, production, delivery, presentation and removal of waste food

Provide a portering service for the movement of patients, waste carts, and equipment across the sites. using wheelchairs, trolleys and beds.

Liaise with patients, visitors and other members of staff in a polite and professional manner

Removal of linen and waste

Maintain local paper or electronic records as required for the role.

Replenishment of consumable items within area of allocation

Operation of any cleaning equipment trained to facilitate allocated duties (ie regen oven, vacuum, floor cleaning equipment

Attend training sessions required to allow the completion of allocated duties.
