An
exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Estates Department at Leeds
Teaching Hospitals Trust as Estates Manager Specialist (Buildings),
overseeing the management of the Trusts property portfolio. This role is
central to the operation of one of the largest and most complex NHS estates
in the country, spanning over 500,000 sq. metres.
As
part of the Operational Estates Team, you will support the delivery of
high-quality patient care by ensuring a safe, compliant, and efficient built
environment. Reporting to the Deputy Head of Estates, the Estates Manager
Specialist will manage and maintain the Trusts buildings, external areas,
and infrastructure, ensuring full compliance with statutory and
organisational standards.
The
ideal candidate will have a strong buildings background with excellent IT and
digital skills. Key responsibilities include:
Managing reactive maintenance
activity
Overseeing planned preventative
maintenance (PPM)
Coordinating and delivering minor
works and improvement projects
Providing specialist technical and
compliance advice
Liaising with contractors and
managing resources effectively
Supporting strategic planning for
estate development and infrastructure improvement

Main duties of the job
The
post holder will be responsible for the supervision and management of the
in-house multi-skilled Estates maintenance team, as well as the coordination
of specialist contractors that are pivotal to the day to day running of the
Estates function.
The
role will also include responsibility for ensuring that the sites have
compliant value-for money service contracts for all specialist Estates
maintenance services, collaborating closely with colleagues at other Trust
sites to standardise contracts where appropriate. This will include working
with Trust Procurement specialists to ensure that all contracts are fully
compliant with Trust Standing Financial Instructions (SFIs).
The
role will require the successful candidate to be an Authorised person for
Confined spaces and working at height and be well versed in statutory
legislation and technical guidance related to the maintenance and
construction of public buildings
The
post holder shall have responsibility for the management of the Estates team
and contractors using the RESET certification, control of contactors
competence-verification system.
