An exciting new opportunity has arisen within the Catering Service Delivery team for a new band 2 Clerk/Typist to work as part of our team of catering service delivery experts. In this role, youll play a part in assisting to deliver service excellence to the Leeds Teaching Hospitals patients.
At Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, we serve 2000 plus patients each and every day. And none of that would happen without the behind-the-scenes administration to help coordinate everyones work.
As such, were looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic individual to help us with our administrative processes.
The patient catering service at Leeds is about to enter a period of exciting change and development in the delivery of excellence in patient catering services. This is a unique role and will be highly rewarding for the successful candidate, with many opportunities to develop their skills.

Main duties of the job
You will have the responsibility of ensuring that all allocated administration and purchasing duties are completed in a timely manner, ensuring Trust & local department targets are met.
You will need to demonstrate flexibility, commitment, customer focused attitude and can contribute to a catering service in which service improvement is on-going.
Good level of computer literacy: Typing of catering reports/patient meal order details onto a computerised system.
Booking out and despatch of catering orders and deliveries.
Dealing with correspondence, incoming and outgoing, that any senior member of the department may require.
Dealing with telephone enquiries from hospital staff, outside agencies, and patients.
General clerical duties which include filing, photocopying, and emailing.
Proactively check, process and if required clarify special patient diet orders and requests in a timely manner so as to not affect patient feeding.
Participate in the quality assurance checks required for the running of the department services commensurate with the grade.
Raise supply chain issues with patient food items as soon as identified for consideration of alternative products in line with department procedures.
Be of a mature, pleasant, and friendly nature. A sense of humour is advantageous.
Have a flexible approach to their work.
Be committed and focused to provide a quality service that meets the needs of patients, staff, and other health professionals.

The Facilities team within the patient catering department provides a wide range of catering services to many diverse clinical settings for our patients. The patient catering team is a relatively small but well-established group of staff which creates a friendly and welcoming team ethos.
