An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Assistant Facilities Manager to join the Facilities Portering Team at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
The successful candidate will be reporting to the Facilities Operational Manager and they will have overall responsibility for the Portering services. The Portering services comprise of the movement of patients, goods and waste around the site and the role involves cross site working between St James Hospital and the Leeds General Infirmary.
Main duties of the job
The role involves assisting the Facilities Operational Manager in the day to day delivery of the service and its systems. The post holder will deputise for the Facilities Operational Manager in their absence. On a day to day basis manage the performance and effectiveness of their supervisors and Portering staff. To give on the spot advice in practices, procedures and performance of their Portering Supervisors and staff. To spend a significant amount of time on the shop floor so having a good understanding on what is happening on that shift. To build relationships with all levels of staff from Senior Sister down within each functional area. To assist in the implementation of all the operational administrative systems that have been directed by the agreed Portering strategy. To monitor the performance on a day to day basis of all aspects of the Portering function and deal with anysubstandard performance. To ensure that all staff receive mandatory training with annual refresher, and that best practices/protocols are implemented, followed and adhered to at all times. To ensure that all trust agreed infection control policies, practices and procedures are adhered to. To ensure that the service provision remains within financial and weekly paid hours targets. To implement any of the Human Resources policies e.g. sickness, capability, grievances, recruitment etc. To promote excellent industrial relations within the team and support other colleagues within Facilities.
