role of Estates Officer is a rewarding and entrusted position within the
Estates team at St James Hospital.

Property, equipment and systems. The successful candidate will be Responsible
for ensuring safe systems of work are maintained inline with HTM and recognised
codes of practice by carrying out Authorised Person Duties for Lifts,
Ventilation Systems, Working at Height, Water Systems and Pressure Systems
(this list is not exhaustive) following training, assessment, and formal
appointment by the Trust.
They
will continue to develop elements of other skills, reaching levels of
flexibility and competence to enable them to achieve and apply the ability
where required.
Responsible for the safe maintenance, assembly,
dismantling and repair of equipment others may use.
The chosen candidate will form part of a dynamic
team committed to pushing the boundaries, working together to achieve the
desired results and the best outcome for our patients. You will assist work on
complex systems, carry out dynamic Risk assessments, work autonomously as
required, organising and rectifying reactive works and carrying out statutory
planned maintenance
Main duties of the job
The
successful candidate will be able to Undertake condition surveys, evaluating
inspection reports and perform the duties of a Clerk of Works to oversee
capital work across the Trust as directed by management, ensuring compliance
with Trust safety standards, procedures and specifications.
Plan
and organise major interruptions, maintenance activities and manage work of
contractors and directly employed labour. Provide practical training to others
and evaluates work.
Manage
directly employed labour in line with all relevant Trust Policies, carryout
disciplinary and attendance management investigations providing detailed
investigation/management reports.
Deputise
for Estates Manager (Operations) on the full range of management duties as well
as providing technical advice to other Estates Staff, Senior Managers, Clinical
Colleagues and 3rd Party Contractors.
Working
to standards laid down in Trust policies and legislation to provide a safe and
supportive environment for patients, staff and visitors.
The
role can be challenging but rewarding and is one of the most important in terms
of both patient and staff contact.
