The role of Estates Maintenance Assistant is a rewarding and entrusted position within the Estates team at St James Hospital and integral to how the team support patient care. The chosen candidate will form part of a dynamic team committed to pushing the boundaries, working together to achieve the desired results and the best outcome for our patients. You will assist work on complex systems, carry out dynamic risk assessments, work autonomously as required, organising and rectifying reactive works and carrying out statutory planned maintenance items to ensure maximum availability of equipment to minimize any downtime. Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work as part of the Estates management team, managing the staff and also responsible for the maintenance/record keeping of equipment. The role covers a wide spectrum of responsibility from carrying out Authorised Person duties such as ventilation and Pressure systems to "driving" teams of staff to support reactive works, installations and routine servicing. Support Estates Managers with contracts and specialist maintenance contractors ensuring that we perform and complete our Statutory obligations.

The role will focus upon some key areas such as managing workflow, communicating with key stakeholders, carrying out Risk assessments, acting as a team leader, ensuring policies and procedures are adhered too and promoting productivity. This role will be either mechanically/electrically biased working with other Estates managers on a variety of works and projects to directly support patient care. The role will offer training opportunities to help develop the successful candidate who will work with outside agencies, other Trust departments, specialised maintenance contractors and valued partners.   • Health Technical Memorandum 04 Legionella
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and by reading and writing.

  • The jobholder must take responsibility in agreement with his/her line manager for his/her own personal development and undertake all mandatory training required for the role particularly attending r
