Job summary

The Leeds Teaching Hospital Trust Estates Department require an Electrical Estates Technician to work Monday to Friday 8am while 4pm at the Chapel Allerton and Seacroft Hospital sites.

Main duties of the job

Work on the full range Estates Services equipment, the Estates Technician will undertake activities which require comparison of a range of options, complex facts requiring analysis to resolve technical issues in on multifaceted equipment/situations many of which have a direct impact on patient safety and the built environment. Responsible for calibration and fault finding on a wide range of engineering plant and equipment including various voltage systems, steam raising plant and associated equipment, steam sterilizers, medical gas systems, nurse call systems, lighting, fire detection, building services controls, standby generator plant, heating and ventilation control systems and refrigeration plant.

Job responsibilities

Install, maintain, service and repair the full range of Estates Services equipment. Performs work including activities which require comparison of a range of options, complex facts requiring analysis to resolve technical issues in complex and multifaceted equipment / situations. Plan and organise major interruptions, maintenance activities and co-ordinates work of others. Provides practical training to others and evaluates work.

Deputise for Estates Officer on the full range of management duties as well as providing technical advice to other Estates staff and contractors.

  • Previous experience working on new installations, control systems, plant and equipment breakdowns, fault finding, rectifications and planned preventative maintenance (PPM)

Desirable

  • Working in an acute Hospital Environment, HTM 06, Nurse call systems, BMS -Systems

Qualifications

Essential

  • City & Guilds 232 or 236 or 205

Desirable

  • Completion of recognised and registered CITB or EITB apprenticeship

Skills & Behaviours

  • Flexible and approachable.
  • Able to work as part of a team and co-ordinate work with other trades.
  • Understands and demonstrates the importance of effective communication with department heads.
