The role available is part time (18 hours/ week) based at the Mosaic Nursery.

A permanent position has arisen for a Nursery Support worker to join our team of professionals in the staff nursery.

We are looking for an Nursery Support Worker who is a committed individual, seeking an exciting new challenge within the childcare field.

Main duties of the job

Have completed some form of cleaning experience in any setting

Ability to communicate verbally in a friendly manner

Ability to read and understand instructions

Ability to work within set procedures ad protocol

Pleasant personable manner, smart clean appearance along with demonstrating the Leeds Way Values

Ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing, telephone and Trust email

Ability to complete technical service workbook and other departmental documentation, relating to the healthcare environment

Ability to work to tight schedules with competing demands

Ability to work under own initiative and as part of a team

Good time keeping

Ability to adapt to change

Ability to carry out strenuous physical tasks

Nursery experience

Work related cleaning experience healthcare settings

Dealing with people

Formal qualifications (NVQ level 1), BICS-COPC, Infection Control

Knowledge of Health & Safety, Moving & Handling, COSHH

About us

LTHT Nurseries provide 168 places per day across 3 sites, Clarendon Nursery, Mosaic Nursery and Rosewood Nursery. All 3 nurseries are rated 'Good' by Ofsted, and pride ourselves on the excellent commitment our staff have to delivering the best quality childcare for all children. To support the nursery team in delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage across the setting to raise and maintain the excellence of the Early Years Provision through quality interaction with the children. To assist and develop an environment that meets the Ofsted Welfare Requirements and the individual needs of the child and family.

The postholder will work collaboratively with both the management team and as part of a team of up to 25 practitioners; assisting with meeting the individual needs of the children whilst sustaining good partnerships with up to 80 families/carers within the setting.

Undertake any training required to enhance the delivery of the service. This training will be provided and may take place over a number of weeks.

9. CORE KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING

To be responsible for working with colleagues to maintain and improve the quality of services provided.

Ensure that all tasks are carried out in compliance with relevant statutory legislation and local policies and codes of practice including Health and Safety, COSHH and in particular by following agreed safe working procedures, and reporting incidents using the Trust Incident Reporting system.

To maintain high standards of personal hygiene and appearance at all times whilst on duty.

The jobholder must take responsibility in agreement with his/her line manager for his/her own personal development and undertake all mandatory training required for the role particularly attending refresher training on an annual basis.

The jobholder must co-operate with all policies and procedures designed to ensure equality of employment and that services are delivered in ways that meet the individual needs of children and their families. No person whether they are staff, patient or visitor should receive less favourable treatment because of their gender, ethnic origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, religion etc.

To complete all relevant daily documentation in compliance with relevant statutory legislation and local codes of practice and quality control procedures.

10. PRINCIPAL DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

To follow any reasonable instruction from local supervisor/manager as necessary.

To ensure that all equipment and materials are maintained in a clean and hygienic condition and that any faults are reported immediately to the supervisor.

Any other duties as may be reasonably required by line management commensurate with the grade of the post, especially in support of department and Facilities and Trust contingency planning arrangements. Only takes place after appropriate training and support given. This training may take place over a number of weeks.

report concerns or family issues to appropriate manager

support the nursery team in the monitoring of daily routines and standards to meet Ofsted Welfare Requirements

to support with the meal service and to clear away pots, toys, clean childrens faces, etc. as part of the daily routine.

To work with Nursery Managers to ensure that the childcare strategy fulfils two purposes, it improves the working lifes of staff and as a direct consequence improves the quality and accessibility of services for patients
