Job summary
The
Research and Innovation Department is continuing its exciting expansion. We
have several research specialities and the Cardiovascular Percutaneous
Coronary Intervention (PCI) research portfolio is looking for a Research
Nurse. We are looking to recruit a proactive and self motivated individual
with a keen interest in research to work within the PCI team. This post will
be to work alongside our already established PCI team of nurses and 6
Interventional PCI consultants. We are excited to continue to expand and
develop our growing portfolio of complex interventional trials, that include
early phase and complex device trials, as well as randomised and
observational studies.
It
is a full time post (1.0 WTE), with a permanent contract. This post will be
based at the Leeds General Infirmary, Leeds Clinical Research Facility (CRF),
LS1 3EX.
The
post holder will contribute actively to the conduct, coordination and
delivery of the PCI research portfolio. The post holder will work within a
specialised environment including the cardiac catheter lab as well as acute
inpatient and out patient settings. Identifying, and caring for patients
enrolled in clinical research studies and will work closely with all senior
colleagues and all members of the cardiology MDT to deliver this high quality
clinical care to our research participants.

Main duties of the job
The
exact dimensions of the numbers and types of studies may vary in accordance
with the dynamic nature of the research portfolio and specialist clinical
area. The main tasks being participating in the co-ordination and delivery of
patient related trial activities and associated administrative tasks and
ensuring that that all research undertaken within the department safeguards
the well being of patients and is conducted within the confines of ICH Good
Clinical Practice Guidelines for Research. In addition of being responsible
for ensuring that high standards of clinical care planning, delivery, safety,
and patient satisfaction are to a very high standards, compliance with Trust
policy, study protocol requirements, local and national guidance and
legislation is also required.
The
post holder will be required to work alongside industry partners, the
National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Network (CRN)
Yorkshire and Humber (Y&H) and colleagues in neighbouring establishments,
attending regional and national meetings as required.
Prior
knowledge of cardiology and or percutaneous coronary intervention is
encouraged but not essential.

broader multidisciplinary team (MDT), being responsible for ensuring that high

Investigators and associated multidisciplinary colleagues in the planning, scheduling,
conduct, recruitment, patient care, support and data collection required for all studies
within the department. They will be responsible for developing their own clinical
practice, maintaining competencies (related to the research portfolio) and where
appropriate taking delegated responsibility for the clinical elements of studies in line
with Trust policies and study protocols.
Working effectively and proactively with agreed external agencies and collaborative
partners, the individual will adhere to agreed study pathways and processes to
derive accurate and robust data capture, and ensure pharmacovigilance is
maintained.
