largest NHS Trusts.
The
Cardiac MRI unit at Leeds Teaching Hospitals operates three dedicated
scanners across two modern facilities and performs over 3,500 NHS scans and
around 1,000 research studies annually. The service is highly regarded,
holding BSCMR and EACVI accreditation, and is recognised for excellence in
clinical care, research, and education.
We
are seeking a motivated and experienced Band 8a Radiographer to take on a
leadership role within a multidisciplinary team that includes specialist
radiographers, clinical assistants, consultants, research fellows,
physicists, and international trainees. The role offers a flexible balance
between clinical and research responsibilities.
The
department provides a comprehensive service, including tertiary referrals for
neonatal, paediatric, and adult patients across Yorkshire. It delivers
advanced cardiac MRI techniques such as stress perfusion and parametric
mapping in clinical practice, alongside cutting-edge research methods like
4D-flow, MR spectroscopy, and diffusion tensor imaging.
Main duties of the job

senior Radiographer with proven leadership, sophisticated communication
skills and a patient-centred approach. Applicants will be expected to have
experience in effectively managing teams in a multi-disciplinary environment,
have high levels of expertise in MRI and CMR, excellent time-management and
organisational skills and the ability to independently find solutions to the
demands of a complex clinical-academic environment. They will have a strong
understanding of health & safety and risk management, particularly the
inherent responsibilities within the MRI magnet environment.
Their
role will span across both clinical and research CMR activity and the post
holder will be responsible for managing the expectations and objectives of
both the LTHT and the UoL, including service and research development
planning and implementation and to innovate concomitant conciliated working
solutions. The post holder will have responsibility for the management of the
radiographers working in CMR, be proficient in advanced CMR including
standard clinical highly specialist research applications and to maintain the
high quality patient/research participant focussed imaging service.
