Leeds Teaching Hospitals has an exciting opportunity to recruit an Associate Practitioner with a respiratory and sleep physiology focus, to join our Cardio-Respiratory team. We welcome applications from those seeking both full and part time work. The cardio-respiratory department is open Monday-Friday 08:30-16:30 with no routine evening or weekend commitment.
Due to exciting service expansion plans through community diagnostic centres, we are looking for talented individuals who enjoy working in a team, motivated to learn new skills and will provide the best care to our patients. The successful applicant will join our friendly team at St James Hospital. There will be a requirement to work across all of our sites if required including; Leeds General Infirmary, Seacroft Hospital as well as Armley Moor Health Centre and Beeston Village Surgery. The role of an Associate Practitioner is exciting and varied. This role should appeal to those who have existing practical skills and in-depth knowledge of respiratory physiology. The role would be appropriate for other professional and academic backgrounds who have healthcare experience and current competency in performing spirometry. Main duties of the job
The main duties for this role will include performing a range of respiratory and sleep investigations including spirometry with reversibility, full lung function tests, capillary blood gases, field exercise tests, as well as sleep analysis under supervision. You will work towards being an autonomous practitioner through in house training and there will be opportunity to gain professional qualifications, such as ARTP certifications. As a vital member of the existing respiratory team, you will support junior members of staff with teaching and training in spirometry. In addition you will be involved in departmental ordering, stock control and quality assurance processes. You will also work alongside visiting students including those on formal academic programmes. Successful applicants will work as part of a friendly team to provide high quality and efficient respiratory services. The department has a monthly governance meeting where training will be provided to keep up to date with any new equipment and technology. Associate Practitioners are supported by the wider qualified healthcare scientist team, who ensure a fair and varied role with a focus on staff health and wellbeing.
