This post is an exciting opportunity for a senior leader to be the General Manager of the highly regarded Cardiorespiratory Clinical Service Unit (CSU), at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust.
The General Manager is a key role within the CSU leadership triumvirate alongside the Clinical Director and Head of Nursing. The triumvirate team is collectively accountable for building the strategic and operational direction and delivery of one of the key CSUs for research, innovation, regional tertiary care and integrated system partnership care.
Cardiorespiratory CSU delivers cardiology, cardiac surgery, respiratory medicine, chest clinic, cystic fibrosis care needs for our local population and beyond with both national and international recognition for many of the services we deliver. We have 10 inpatient wards, 6 catheter labs, a large diagnostic portfolio including 58 physiology tests, CMRI, specialty community integrated services and serve over 72,000 hospital inpatients per annum.
The clinical service unit is a busy and fast paced environment, so the post holder must be adaptive to change and able to make rapid balanced decisions to enable best care for patients and support for staff.
Main duties of the job
Provide strong leadership to a well-established and highly performing team
Line manages a senior team including, a deputy General Manager, two service managers and three business managers
Act as the CSU lead to deliver the performance and financial objectives for the CSU
Provide leadership in delivering the CSUs priority areas, such as clinical service development, contracting, business cases and Leeds Improvement Method value streams
Support the Head of Nursing and Clinical Director in deciding the transformation plan, strategic direction and management priorities for the CSU
Champion patient-centered care ensuring safety; quality and patient experience are embedded in everything we do
You will be an experienced operational manager with masters level qualifications and extensive experience in a demanding senior management role within a complex organisation.
You will have a proven track record of leading change and delivering improvements, preferably across both unplanned and planned services.We are looking for a senior manager with experience in managing and leading administrative and clinical teams across a diverse range of services. You should have the ambition and drive to develop the team to deliver new and innovative ways of working. Cardiorespiratory CSU has the aim of being demonstrably the best CSU for research, innovation and partnership working in the country.
