Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic dedicated, self-motivated Registered Nurse to join our Adult Cystic Fibrosis Team within The Leeds Teaching Hospitals. Are you looking for an exciting challenge where you can lead and work within a dynamic team?

Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust hosts the Regional Adult Cystic Fibrosis Unit. The CF Unit is internationally recognised as a centre of excellence and provides full time care for over 400 adults with CF. There is a state of the art inpatients ward at St Jamess Hospital, dedicated day unit facilities at Seacroft hospital and a well-established, high quality home care services.

The unit continues to be at the forefront of clinical research. Our portfolio includes clinical trials and grant funded research focusing on medical informatics (first paperless service in UK), drug allergy, adherence, inflammation and infection.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will manage and lead diabetes care in people with CF to providing high quality, evidence based, individualised care and treatment to in the community, outpatient and inpatient settings. A key component of the role will be working alongside the multi-disciplinary team to develop and establish this new role.

The successful applicant will act as a resource offering specialist advice, support and education, to patients, carers and other health care professionals. You will be responsible for contributing to and leading the on-going development of diabetes clinical practice.

Fixed term post for 12 months or secondment for internal candidates (as it is a new post to the CF team), funding however has been agreed recurrently. Job share would be considered.

- Provide a clinical lead and role model to other nursing staff by delivering high quality care as an expert practitioner

- Assesses, develops and implement specialist nursing care programmes and evaluate care and treatments using advanced clinical knowledge and clinical skills

- Exercises a personal duty of care in relation to equipment, resource and stock control ordering and utilising equipment and supplies appropriately.

- Work with Lead Nurse to lead the development of nursing practice, reflecting the CMT and Nursing Directorate business plans

- Set, monitor and seek to continuously improve standards and the quality of patient care, including those standards defined in the National Benchmarks for Essential Care
