Job summary

An exciting opportunity to come and join Leeds Teaching Hospital Trust as the General Manager of our Oncology Service is now available. We are looking for a leader that that demonstrates both the core values of the organisation and an understanding of the important role the Oncology CSU provides locally, regionally, and nationally for our patients and partners. The CSU encompasses a diverse group of specialties which include the medical disciplines of oncology, haematology and palliative care as well as the surgical disciplines of breast, endocrine, thoracic and gynae-oncology. The CSU is responsible for a range of specialist services and has one of the largest radiotherapy departments in the country, as well as a specialist laboratory for Haematological Malignancy Diagnostic Service. The CSU run National Paroxysmal Nocturnal Haemoglobinuria (PNH) service is renowned worldwide for the expertise in managing patients with PNH.

Main duties of the job

Within this role you will be work as part of the Tri team, managing one of the largest Clinical Service Units within Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust. The CSU employs a diverse workforce of over 1500 medical, nursing, radiotherapists & other AHPs, clinical scientists, administrative & clerical staff. The CSU has an expenditure budget of £186 million and income budget of £210 million. As General Manager you will work in partnership with the Clinical Director and Head of Nursing for the delivery of the business, workforce, and financial planning within your own unit, connecting with colleagues across other CSU and partner organisations to ensure plans are fit for purpose.

The post holder will manage the CSU, a large and complex clinical service unit. Supporting the Clinical Director, the post holder will be responsible for the overall delivery of service, quality, financial and other targets as determined by the Executive Directors.
