Required
to fill these 2 replacement posts within the Anaesthetic Department at the
Leeds General Infirmary.
The post-holder will participate in the
undergraduate teaching program for the school of Medicine, University of Leeds,
which is organised on specialty or clinical area basis. The appointee, with
colleagues, will contribute to the teaching of postgraduates, including the
teaching program for SpRs in Anaesthesia in the Yorkshire Deanery.

Main duties of the job
The appointee will contribute and, where
appropriate, take the lead in Mortality and morbidity meetings, Clinical audit
program, and development and application of agreed clinical guidelines. In the
discharge of these responsibilities the candidate will be expected to maintain
and update their skills and knowledge through appropriate continuing medical
education.
The
successful applicant should possess FRCA (or equivalent) and should be included
on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview,
if currently within a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointment
regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the Specialist
Register.
Applicants should have established skills
in cardiac anaesthesia and cardiac critical care. Candidates should be able to demonstrate
adequate training and additional experience within cardiothoracic anaesthesia
and critical care. They must also be willing to provide anaesthesia for
non-cardiac services. A strong
commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a research interest
is desirable.
Consideration will be given to applicants
who wish to work full or part time and those wishing to job share.
