Job summary

Required to fill this new post within the Neurosciences Department at the Leeds General Infirmary.

We are looking for a Consultant Neurologist and Neurophysiologist (Dual accreditation) based at Leeds General infirmary and might be covering district general hospitals in the West Yorkshire acute trust network (WYAAT). Candidates will work with the existing team to deliver neurophysiology sessions along with neuromuscular and Motor neurone disease MDT clinics.

Consideration will be given to applicants who wish to work full or part time and those wishing to job share.

If shortlisted, you will be required to give a 10-minute presentation on:

How to develop a hub model for neuromuscular and MND services and integrate neurophysiology into this.

Main duties of the job

The present service is well established with 3 Consultants presently in post. Post holder is expected to work along with 18 neurology consultants and 3 neurophysiologists. Leeds has well established MND and neuromuscular service with 3 MND specialist nurses and one neuromuscular nurse. We are seeking a candidate with skills in diagnosing various neuromuscular conditions and work along MND and neuromuscular team. Clinics are delivered at the LGI, Seacroft and Wharfedale sites as well as some remote clinics in the WYATT region.

In addition, the successful candidate will be part of the neurophysiology on call at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals LGI site.

The successful applicant should possess MRCP (or equivalent) and should be included on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview, if currently within a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointment regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the Specialist Register.

Applicants should have established skills in Neurology and Neurophysiology and its related specialties. A strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a research interest is desirable.
