at the Leeds Dental Institute
This
is an additional post within the OMFS Department at the Leeds General
Infirmary/St Jamess University Hospital which is a consequence of a continual
development of the Maxillofacial Service across the Trust.
The
OMFS department based at the Leeds Dental Institute houses the OMFS department
with consulting rooms, dental surgeries for the provision of general clinics
and of minor OMFS procedures. In patient operating is undertaken at the Leeds
General Infirmary.
Those

Main duties of the job
This
appointment is for a surgeon with a subspecialty interest in Orthognathic and
dentofacial deformity surgery. The appointee is expected to work closely within
the current team of Maxillofacial Surgeons in Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS
Trust and closely with the established clinical team. The applicant would be
expected to complement and build on existing team working and those members of
the current orthognathic multidisciplinary team. The postholder will have access
to designated operating lists. The appointee will be expected to provide a
general elective and emergency Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery service, to the
population of Leeds. The appointee will contribute to the general on-call rota (1:13).
The
successful applicant should possess FRCS (OMFS) (or equivalent) and should be
included on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of
interview, if currently within a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointment
regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the Specialist
Register.
A
strong commitment to teaching and training at both undergraduate and
postgraduate levels in also encouraged. Consideration will be given to
applicants who wish to work full or part time and those wishing to job share.
