Job summary
We
are looking for a dynamic individual to become a valued member of our
gynaecology team at St Jamess University Hospital. The post is for a
consultant gynaecologist with colposcopy skills and accreditation, with a view
to developing into the colposcopy lead for our department.The successful applicant will provide gynaecological
care in the following areas:
Gynaecology
clinic
Gynaecology Acute
Treatment Unit (GATU)
Ambulatory Gynaecology
Operating Theatre.
The
gynaecology unit is comprised of three services. The general and urogynaecology
services are based at St Jamess University Hospital. The Reproductive Medicine
team is based at Seacroft hospital. The gynaecology unit liaises closely with
the tertiary gynaecology oncology service which is also based at St Jamess. We
have close and effective working with the community gynaecology service and have
developed integrated waiting lists for appropriate patients. The unit also maintains close links with the maternity
unit, with obstetrics and gynaecology continuing to function as one clinical
service unit at both a senior and junior level.
Consideration will be given to applicants
who wish to work full or part time and those wishing to job share.

Main duties of the job
The
successful applicant should possess MRCOG (or equivalent) and should be
included on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of
interview, if currently within a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointment regulations,
all other categories of doctors must be on the Specialist Register.
Applicants should have
established skills in general gynaecology and its related specialties including
colposcopy. They should have particular expertise in the surgical management of
benign open and minimal access gynaecology. An interest and expertise in local
cancer management and surgery, managing early-stage endometrial cancers and
borderline ovarian lesions, is desired. Applicants will be expected to participate
on the gynaecology on call rota. A strong commitment to undergraduate and
postgraduate teaching and a research interest is also desirable.
