Job summary
We are seeking a dynamic Respiratory
Consultant to fill this replacement post and join the Leeds Asthma & Integrated
TB Specialist services at St James University Hospital. The appointees will
become a key member of a dedicated and highly experienced multi-disciplinary
team.
The is a full-time post compromising of
ten programmed activities, with supervision of the junior doctors and
specialist nurses. There will be an on-call commitment to cover the Respiratory
medicine rota on a 1:12 basis, contribute to the Acute Medicine on call rota
1:17 and contribute 0.7 PA to work flexibly to support General Internal
Medicine.

This includes threeRespiratory wards, an NIV / Weaning unit, a dedicated CF ward, a procedures room, Sleep services and a Nurse-led day unit. There are cross city outpatient facilities including a dedicated chest clinic at Leeds General Infirmary. The unit has a strong commitment to both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research.
Main duties of the job
The
successful applicant should possess Membership of the Royal College of
Physicians of the United Kingdom (or equivalent) and should be included on the
Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview, if
currently within a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointment regulations,
all other categories of doctors must be on the Specialist Register.
Applicants should have
established skills in Respiratory Medicine & General Medicine and its related
specialties including Asthma & TB. A strong commitment to undergraduate and
postgraduate teaching and a research interest is desirable.
Consideration will be given to applicants
who wish to work full or part time and those wishing to job share.

team to sustain current capacity of the TB services with a view to expand in
the near future, ensure the smooth flow from diagnosis to treatment &
follow up, including developing innovative ways of working to sustain
increasing patient load, contribute to the Respiratory & Acute Medicine on
call rota.
