We are looking for an individual to
fill this new Fetal Medicine post at the Leeds General Infirmary and St Jamess
University Hospital. The post includes a 1:11 obstetric on call
commitment.
This is an exciting opportunity to join an established
and successful team of 6 Fetal Medicine Consultants at Leeds Teaching Hospitals.
The post is new and has been developed as part of the departments expansion in
Consultant Obstetricians, funded by the national Ockenden funding.
Leeds maternity services are a busy, research active
tertiary centre providing regional obstetric services including specialist
fetal medicine, maternal medicine and placenta accreta services to much of
North and West Yorkshire. The LGI is co-located with a Level 3 surgical (incl
cardiac) NNU. The service provides a wide range of fetal medicine services
including in utero transfusion. Fetal
MRI is provided in house. The fetal medicine team runs a weekly MDT together
with our genetics, neonatal and fetal cardiology teams which is well attended
by referring units.
The Trust received a good in its last CQC inspection
and maternity services have also been assessed as being good.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant should hold Royal College
of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists MRCOG (or equivalent) and should be on the Specialist Register or within six
months of CCT at the time of interview, if
currently within a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the
consultant appointment regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on
the Specialist Register.
Applicants should have established skills in Obstetrics and fetal medicine. Excellent communication and team working
skills, a strong commitment to teaching and service
development are essential. Applicants should have an SST in Maternal and Fetal
Medicine.

This is a 10 PA
appointment for a Consultant Obstetrician and subspecialist in Fetal and
Maternal Medicine. The post will be
based at Leeds General Infirmary and St Jamess University Hospital.
This post has arisen as part of the restructuring of the Consultant
staffing within the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Womens Clinical Service Unit
(CSU) and the beginning of longer term staffing planning and ongoing investment
in the service for Building the Leeds Way - the opening of a new hospital
incorporating Obstetrics within the next five years. There is planned current
expansion of consultant posts and on call frequency is anticipated to reduce
over the forthcoming year.
We are looking for dynamic, passionate, innovative and
driven applicants to join and complement the existing team in Leeds.
The successful applicant will provide maternity care in
the following areas:
Fetal Medicine Unit
Antenatal clinics (maternal medicine)
Ambulatory areas, including postnatal
ward review.
Contribute to multi-disciplinary team
meetings, including perinatal morbidity and mortality reviews, audit and
teaching.
Supervision of patients
Care of in-patients on a Obstetric hot
week rota (1 in 11)
Contribute to multi-disciplinary team

teaching.
Non-resident on call 1:11

improvement and development. There will be opportunity to participate in
